FLE continued its charity work with another fundraising charity sale on 5th August 2018. The event was organised by a group of kind-hearted students from Education International Cooperation Group who wished to raise both money and awareness of The Children’s Society and supervised by a staff Mr. Mo from the charity organization. There was an impressive variety of arts and crafts on offer, and some were even handmade by the students!
46 students were separated to three groups and they spread to different places like the open market, Grand Arcade, Lionyard and St Mary’s street. At first the students were shy and silent, but they were getting involved soon. They analyzed and discussed the situation, tried various sales strategies, and adjusted speech quickly by customers’ responses. They practiced what they learned in the summer school again and again, in the meanwhile, they understand more about the operation and significance of British charities.
The charity sale successfully attracted a lot of attentions. The most popular arts and crafts were those with Chinese traditional prints. One lady bought 4 items including a bookmark and three small kites. She was satisfied and said, “I really like them and I’m happy to support the charity.”
At the end of the event, the FLE members announced that the sale raised an incredible ￡240. Mo said he’d like to thank the art-and-craft-lovers who stopped by the stall and thank the students for their fantastic effort and the staff who supervised the event. One student said,”We really learned a lot from the event, not only business communication and marketing skills, but also how to solve problems. And last but not the least, we know more about charities.”
